Hammond 1550WMBK 120 x 100 mm Black Diecast Enclosure, IP66 Gasket

The 1550WMBK pairs a slim 120 mm x 100 mm diecast aluminum body with a textured satin black polyester powder coat and an included IP66 gasket. It is aimed at product designers and integrators who want a finished-looking black metal housing for circuit boards and instruments without giving up dust and water protection.

The black coating is described as tough and lasting even after machining, so the box can be drilled or milled for connectors and still present well. Black screws come with it to keep the assembled appearance uniform. Construction is die-cast aluminum alloy with a lap joint between box and lid, and the lid fastens with M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Philips head screws into factory tapped holes.

Listed dimensions are 4.74 in x 3.95 in x 1.23 in (120 mm x 100 mm x 31 mm). The series table shows 4.72 x 3.94 x 1.38 in (120 x 100 x 35 mm), with the 4 mm (0.16 in) lid included. The drawing gives an inside box length of 115.28 mm [4.54 in] and inside width of 95.28 mm [3.75 in]. It ships at 0.49 lbs (0.22 kg).

Walls have no internal ribs and a 2° lower draft angle, which helps with connector installation and PC board mounting. The EVA foam gasket is shipped loose inside, is rated up to 65°C (149°F), and supports the IP66 rating when properly installed with lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m; without a gasket the series is designed for IP54.
