Hammond 1550WN 250 mm Square Diecast Aluminum Enclosure, IP66 Gasket

The 1550WN is the square 250 mm x 250 mm size of the 1550 Series diecast aluminum enclosures, supplied in natural aluminum with an IP66 gasket. With a listed 97 mm height, it gives OEM engineers and control builders a roomy, water-tight metal housing for larger boards, terminal assemblies and instrument electronics.

The body and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, and the unpainted version is vibra finished for a smooth surface without sharp edges. Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Philips head machine screws secure the lid into factory tapped holes.

Hammond lists the 1550WN at 9.85 in x 9.85 in x 3.82 in (250 mm x 250 mm x 97 mm). The series table gives 9.84 x 9.84 x 3.98 in (250 x 250 x 101 mm), including the 4 mm (0.16 in) lid. The drawing shows an inside box length and width of 240.30 mm [9.46 in]. Shipping weight is 3.42 lbs (1.55 kg).

Internal walls are free of ribs so connectors and glands can be fitted without interference, and the side walls use a 2° lower draft angle for easier PC board mounting. The EVA foam gasket ships loose inside and is rated up to 65°C (149°F); IP66 is achieved with the gasket properly installed and lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m, while the series is designed to meet IP54 without a gasket.

The 1550WN is RoHS and REACH compliant and packed in shrink wrap. Replacement IP66 gaskets are 1550NEGASKET; 1550NSGASKET silicone gaskets upgrade to IP67. Hammond offers factory milling, drilling and printing on quote plus .stp or .x_t solid models.
