Hammond 1550WLBK 165 x 127 mm Black Diecast Aluminum Box, IP66 Gasket

The 1550WLBK is a 165 mm x 127 mm diecast aluminum enclosure from the 1550 Series, finished in textured satin black polyester powder coat and supplied with an IP66 gasket. It suits OEM engineers, instrument builders and integrators who need a rugged, machinable housing for electronics that must resist dust and water.

The box and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, and the powder coat is specified to give a lasting finish even after machining. Black screws are included to match the assembled appearance. A lap joint between box and lid protects against dust and splashing water, and the lid is secured with M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel Philips head machine screws into factory tapped holes.

Hammond lists this part at 6.51 in x 5.02 in x 2.85 in (165 mm x 128 mm x 72 mm), with a nominal series-table size of 6.50 x 5.00 x 3.03 in (165 x 127 x 77 mm) that includes the 4 mm (0.16 in) lid. The drawing gives an inside box length of 157.73 mm [6.21 in] and inside box width of 119.73 mm [4.71 in]. Shipping weight is 1.12 lbs (0.51 kg).

Inside, there are no internal ribs, so connectors install without interference or extra milling, and the low side-wall draft angle (2° less) simplifies PC board mounting. The series is designed to meet IP54 without a gasket or IP66 with one; the 1550WLBK includes the EVA foam gasket, which is shipped loose inside the enclosure and is rated up to 65°C (149°F). IP66 depends on a properly installed gasket and lid screws torqued at 55 cN.m.

The part is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships in shrink wrap. Replacement IP66 gaskets are 1550LEGASKET and silicone IP67 upgrade gaskets are 1550LSGASKET. Hammond can factory modify the enclosure (milling, drilling, printing) and offers solid models in .stp or .x_t.
