The 1490J12 packs twelve 30.5 mm holes into a taller, narrower sloped consolet of 11.75 in H x 8.50 in W x 9.00 in D (298 x 216 x 229 mm). It is designed to accept standard heavy duty oil tight pushbuttons, switches and pilot lights, and is ideal for wall or surface mounting where wall width is limited.
Compared with the 1490G12, which spreads the same twelve holes across 15.25 in of width, the J12 stacks controls in more rows. Its drawing shows an 8.87 x 12.12 in door, 1.21 in holes on 2.25 in centres, and 0.25 in mounting holes. The front cover takes a 30° or 60° slope depending on mounting position.
The enclosure is formed 16 gauge steel with smooth continuously welded seams. An internally hinged removable cover is designed to hold open during wiring and closes with captive screws into sealed wells, compressing an oil resistant gasket to keep out dirt, dust, oil and water. Phosphatized steel is finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating; a bonding stud on the door and grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1490J12 is UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13 rated and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54 with appropriate components. Shipping weight is 13 lbs (5.90 kg); the 22.5 mm version is 1490MJ12.
