The 1490G12 carries twelve 30.5 mm holes across a wide sloped face measuring 7.25 in H x 15.25 in W x 6.75 in D (184 x 387 x 171 mm). It is designed to accept standard heavy duty oil tight pushbuttons, switches and pilot lights, and is ideal for wall or surface mounting where a long, low control row is preferred over a taller box.
If a squarer layout suits better, the series also lists the 1490J12 with the same hole count in an 11.75 x 8.50 x 9.00 in body. For the G12, the drawing gives a 15.62 x 7.62 in door, 1.21 in holes on 2.25 in centres and 0.25 in mounting holes, with a 30° or 60° cover slope set by mounting position.
The body is formed 16 gauge steel with smooth continuously welded seams. An internally hinged removable cover holds open during wiring, then closes with captive screws into sealed wells, compressing an oil resistant gasket that protects against dirt, dust, oil and water. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating, and bonding and grounding studs are provided.
The 1490G12 is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13 and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54 when appropriate components are used. Shipping weight is 11 lbs (4.99 kg); the 22.5 mm version is 1490MG12.
