Hammond 1488EL7 8 x 20 in Sloped-Front Type 12 Consolet

The 1488EL7 pairs the shortest cover height in the 1488 range, 8 in, with a 20 in width, so it reads as a low, wide desk-style station: a long strip of sloped panel space for a row of controls or instruments without much height above the work surface. It is a Type 12 consolet from the 1488 Series, designed for use as an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control and instrument enclosure, and it protects its contents from dirt, dust, oil and water.

The body is formed from 14 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams. The cover is continuously hinged and can be removed by pulling the hinge pin; captive cover screws thread into sealed wells, and an oil resistant gasket and adhesive seal the opening. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a ground stud on the enclosure. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating.

The enclosure is ideal for flat or surface mounting, or on a pedestal, and its construction provides either a 30° or 60° slope on the front cover depending on mounting position.
