Hammond 1444-32CWW 17x10x3 Inch Aluminum Chassis with Walnut Sides

The 1444-32CWW is the 17 in x 10 in x 3 in (432 mm x 254 mm x 76 mm) aluminum chassis supplied with solid walnut side panels. It gives tube amplifier and audio builders a full-width chassis with a traditional wood-and-metal appearance.

The chassis is spot welded, heavy duty 0.051 in aluminum (0.05 in / 1 mm in the ordering table) with a natural aluminum finish. The solid walnut sides are routed out to fit over the ends of the chassis, which is pre-punched for easy mounting, and each attaches with four machine screws and lockwashers into metal inserts to avoid wood damage. Screws should not be torqued past 4.43 lbf.in (50 cN.m).

According to the drawing, the chassis includes the wooden sides, adhesive rubber feet and required hardware. The assembly measures 449.58 mm [17.70 in] long and 266.70 mm [10.50 in] wide, with walnut sides 88.90 mm [3.50 in] high. Inner box dimensions are 16.90 in long, 251.41 mm [9.90 in] wide and 73.61 mm [2.90 in] high. The inset in the walnut sides reduces the usable surface of the front, back and top by roughly 7/8 in (22 mm).

Bottom plate 1434-30 and plated cover screws 1421J6 (package of 6, 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping) are sold separately. Clear self-adhesive rubber feet are available as 1421T6CL (package of 24). The 1451 series steel covers are not compatible.

The 1444-32CWW ships in shrink wrap at 2.5 lbs (1.13 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
