Hammond 1441-36 17x12x3 in Gray Steel Chassis, 18 Gauge

The 1441-36 is a 17 x 12 x 3 in (432 x 305 x 76 mm) steel chassis from the 1441 Series, finished in ASA 61 smooth grey powder paint. It shares its 17 x 12 in footprint with the 2 in tall 1441-34 but adds an extra inch of height, suiting tube, vintage-style and general electronic projects that need taller internal clearance on a wide deck.

This size is built from 18 gauge steel, with the drawing specifying 0.048 in (1.22 mm) material for the chassis and 0.036 in steel for the bottom plate. The chassis is spot welded for heavy duty construction. According to the drawing, the inner box is 429.36 mm [16.90 in] long, 302.36 mm [11.90 in] wide and 73.76 mm [2.90 in] high; chassis height is 76.20 mm [3.00 in], rising to 77.11 mm [3.04 in] with a bottom plate installed.

The ordering table assigns the 1431-34 gray and 1431-34BK3 satin black bottom panels to this chassis. Bottom plates are punched with four 3/16 in diameter holes and attach through the 1/8 in holes provided in the chassis, using 1421J6 natural finish or 1421J6BK black 6-32 x 1/4 in self-tapping screws (package of 6). No perforated chassis cover is listed for this size. All components, including hardware and rubber feet, are sold separately.

The 1441-36 can be factory modified by milling, drilling or printing, and STEP or IGES solid models are available. It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap and has a shipping weight of 5.28 lbs (2.39 kg). A satin black version is offered as 1441-36BK3.
