The 1438V is the largest enclosure in the 1436/1438 Series: a 14.00 x 10.75 in Type 12 mild steel junction box from the Extra Deep (1438) range, 4.75 in deep. It is designed for instrument enclosures, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures requiring a degree of protection from falling dirt, dust, oil and water.
It measures 14.00 in H x 10.75 in W x 4.75 in D (356 x 273 x 121 mm) and is formed from 16 gauge steel with smooth, continuously welded seams without knockouts, cutouts or holes. Welded mounting brackets give an overall height of 15.00 in, with Ø0.25 in holes on 14.50 in vertical and 9.88 in horizontal centres. Overall depth including the cover is 4.91 in.
The 14.37 x 11.12 in lift-off cover is supported on internal hinges and secured with captive, plated steel screws fastening into threaded, sealed wells over a permanently secured oil resistant gasket. The door opening is 13.50 in high by 10.25 in wide. A bonding stud on the cover and grounding stud on the enclosure are provided.
The 1438V is rated UL 508A Type 12 and 13 and CSA Type 12 and 13, and complies with NEMA Type 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP54. Cover and enclosure are phosphatized and finished in recoatable ANSI 61 gray powder coating. Shipping weight is 11 lbs (4.99 kg), in a box.
