Hammond 1431-10BK3 8 x 4 in Satin Black Steel Chassis Bottom Plate

The 1431-10BK3 is the satin black version of the 8 in x 4 in bottom plate for Hammond's 1441 series steel chassis. It is listed for two chassis heights in the 8 x 4 in footprint: the 1.00 in high 1441-9BK3 and the 2.00 in high 1441-10BK3, along with the grey 1441-9 and 1441-10. Builders of classic, vintage-style and tube equipment, hobbyists and OEM designers use it to give a dark chassis a finished underside.

Construction is 0.036" steel in a satin black finish. As the series specification explains, optional bottom plates are punched with 4 holes of 3/16" diameter and the chassis now includes 1/8" holes for installing the plate. Screws are sold separately; the drawing calls for 1421J6BK black cover screws or 1421J6 natural finish cover screws, each a package of 6 x 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping screws.

The listed size is 8 in x 4 in x 0.04 in (203 mm x 102 mm x 1 mm), dimensioned on the drawing at 203.20 mm [8.00 in] x 101.60 mm [4.00 in] and 0.91 mm [.036 in] thick. The mating chassis are 20 gauge, 8.00 in (203 mm) wide and 4.00 in (102 mm) deep. Assembled with a 1441-10, the inner box measures 201.37 mm [7.93 in] x 99.77 mm [3.93 in] x 48.97 mm [1.93 in]. For the top, the ordering table lists the 1451-10BK3 satin black or 1451-10 grey perforated chassis cover.

The 1431-10BK3 ships in a bag at 0.32 lbs (0.15 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant.
