Hammond 1431-12 7 x 5 in Grey Steel Chassis Bottom Plate

The 1431-12 is a 7 in x 5 in steel bottom plate for Hammond's 1441 series steel chassis. It is listed for the 1441-12 grey chassis, the 1441-12BK3 satin black chassis and the 1441-12BK3CWW satin black chassis with walnut sides, one of the sizes Hammond offers with the real walnut side upgrade. The plate suits builders of classic, vintage-style and tube equipment, hobbyists and OEM engineers.

The plate is 0.036" steel with an ASA 61 smooth grey finish. The series specification notes that optional bottom plates are punched with 4 holes of 3/16" diameter and that the chassis now includes 1/8" holes to allow installation of the plate. Fixing screws are ordered separately: the drawing lists 1421J6 natural finish cover screws or 1421J6BK black cover screws, each a package of 6 x 6-32 x 1/4" self-tapping screws.

Hammond lists the size as 7 in x 5 in x 0.04 in (178 mm x 127 mm x 1 mm). On the drawing the plate is 177.80 mm [7.00 in] x 127.00 mm [5.00 in], 0.91 mm [.036 in] thick. The mating chassis is 20 gauge, 7.00 in (178 mm) wide, 5.00 in (127 mm) deep and 2.00 in (51 mm) high; assembled, the inner box measures 175.97 mm [6.93 in] long, 125.17 mm [4.93 in] wide and 48.97 mm [1.93 in] high.

The 1431-12 ships in a bag at 0.34 lbs (0.15 kg) and is RoHS and REACH compliant. All chassis components are sold separately, and rubber feet are sold separately as well.
