Hammond 1182Q60 750 VA Toroidal Transformer, 120V CT or 60V Output

The 1182Q60 is a 750 VA toroidal power transformer with dual 60 V secondaries rated 6.25 A each. In series it delivers 120V C.T. @ 6.25A and in parallel 60V @ 12.5A, giving designers a higher-voltage center-tapped source from 117 VAC or 234 VAC mains in a low-profile toroid package.

The part drawing calls out #16 TEW primary leads and #14 TEW secondary leads, 8"-9" long and stripped 0.5" minimum. Secondary windings are RED-BLU and GRY-YEL. Regulation is 4.10% in the series table, with dimension reference K. The open-center toroid is supplied with two 0.093" x 4.75" OD rubber washers, one 16GA x 4.30" OD steel mounting washer and a 3/8-16 bolt 3.50" long with lock washer and hex nut. Shipping weight is 13 lbs (5.90 kg).

On compliance, the 1182 family carries UL recognition to UL 5085-1 and UL 5085-2 under file #E207860 and CSA certification to C22.2 #66.1-6 and #66.2-6 under file #209651, and is self-declared as evaluated to applicable sections of IEC/EN61558-1 and IEC/EN61558-2-4. Windings use Class B (130 degree C) materials, primary-to-secondary insulation is hi-pot tested at 4,000 VAC RMS, and the part is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The dual primary accepts 117 VAC (parallel connection) or 234 VAC (series connection) at 50/60 Hz, with a connection sheet included. Units are designed to run with every winding engaged, in series or parallel, or as an autotransformer. Plan the supply protection for toroidal inrush: the magnetizing current at energization is limited only by the primary's low DC resistance, so a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed breaker or soft-start is recommended.
