Hammond 106E 600:600 Ohm CT-Primary 500 mW Input Transformer

The 106E is a miniature epoxy-potted input audio transformer from the 106 Series with a 600 ohm center-tapped primary and a 600 ohm secondary. It is rated at 500 mW output and suits designers bringing a 600 ohm line onto a P.C. board.

The center-tapped primary is bifilar wound for balanced resistive and capacitive characteristics. Rugged black epoxy potting produces a completely sealed unit that withstands severe environmental conditions, including those of MIL-T-27 (Grade 5, Class S). Pins are 0.025 in square typical, and unused connections have no pin. The 106E drawing lists a weight of 1.44 oz and a maximum operating altitude of 50,000 ft.

The series table gives a maximum primary DC of 9 mA, 500 mW output, 1 dB insertion loss and a -1 dB roll-off at 150 Hz. DC resistance is 65 ohms primary and 83 ohms secondary, +/- 15%. Typical values on the drawing:

• Frequency response: +/-1 dB, 150 Hz to 20 kHz at full power
• DCR: 31.17 ohms (pins 1-2), 31.34 ohms (pins 2-4), 78.96 ohms (pins 5-8), +/-15%
• Primary inductance, pins 1-4, at 1 V, 1 kHz OC: 698.5 mH, 4.8K ohms impedance
• Primary leakage inductance, pins 1-4, at 1 V, 1 kHz SC: 4.93 mH
• Dielectric strength 500 V RMS; temperature class 105 degrees C; peak working voltage 200 Vp-p

The 106E is RoHS and REACH compliant, uses drawing figure 8 and ships at 0.09 lbs (0.04 kg). The 106EE is the version with a center-tapped secondary.
