The 101J is a miniature potted audio transformer that matches a 2500 ohm center-tapped primary to a 600 ohm center-tapped secondary. Built for P.C. board mounting with pin-type terminals, it serves engineers bridging a high-impedance audio source to a 600 ohm line in a sealed, board-mounted part.
Its rugged potted construction produces a completely sealed unit that withstands severe environmental conditions, and it weighs only 0.1 oz. The 101J drawing specifies 0.02 in diameter pins, 0.100 in long minimum and solderable, with pins 4 and 5 left unconnected. Either winding may be used as the primary.
Nominal DC resistance is 150 ohms primary and 54 ohms secondary. The drawing tests confirm it: 150.0 ohms +/-20% on pins 1-3 and 54.00 ohms +/-20% on pins 6-8 at 20 degrees C. Useful impedance range is 1250/300 to 5000/1200 ohms. Excitation current is 1.5 mA max at 3 V, 500 Hz on pins 1-3. Under the same drive the no-load secondary voltage tests read 1.500 V (pins 2-3), 0.735 V (pins 6-7 and 7-8) and 1.469 V (pins 6-8), each +/-2%. The primary-to-secondary hipot is 100 V, 60 Hz for 1 second.
The 101J is rated at 100 mW from 300 Hz to 100 kHz referenced to a 1 kHz 0 dB level. It holds +/- 0.5 dB from 200 Hz to 100 kHz at +10 and +15 dBm and from 300 Hz to 100 kHz at +20 dBm. It is RoHS and REACH compliant.
