Hammond RL6685BK 200x150x100mm Black ABS Project Enclosure

The RL6685BK is a black shallow-lid ABS project enclosure from the RL Series, sized 200 x 150 x 100 mm (7.87 x 5.91 x 3.94 in). It is designed to house P.C. boards for hand-held use or wall mount, making it a practical choice for OEM engineers, electronics designers and integrators building compact control, sensing or interface assemblies. It is the plain version without wall mounting flanges; the same size is also offered with flanges.

The enclosure is molded in general purpose ABS plastic with a light texture, flame rated UL94 HB. Construction is two-part: box and lid, and both halves include a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen. P.C. board standoffs are molded into both halves, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54.

Inside, the drawing gives 190.22 mm [7.49 in] length, 140.22 mm [5.52 in] width and 93.70 mm [3.69 in] height. The part page lists a maximum P.C. board size of 191.03 x 133.35 mm, while the series ordering table lists 189.46 x 133.35 mm for this size, so check your board against the drawing. Shipping weight is 1.01 lbs (0.46 kg).

The purchased assembly of the RL6685BK includes the box, lid, 4 PCB screws and 4 lid screws. The lid accepts M3 self-tapping screws and the PCB standoffs accept M2.6 self-tapping screws; recommended torque is (43-50) Ozf.in / (30-35) cN.m. Replacement packs are SC617-50 (M3 x 25 mm lid screws, 50 pkg) and SC519-50 (M2.6 x 6 mm PCB screws, 50 pkg). It is RoHS and REACH compliant, and the light grey equivalent is RL6685.

Enclosures can be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing) and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t. Some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS, including acetone, thread-locking compounds and cutting or tapping fluid, so use only plastic-safe cleaners.
