Hammond RL6585-FBK 175x125x100mm Flanged Black ABS Project Enclosure

The RL6585-FBK is a black ABS plastic project enclosure from the RL Series (shallow lid), measuring 175 x 125 x 100 mm (6.89 in x 4.92 in x 3.94 in). It adds molded wall mounting flanges to the standard RL box, so it suits electronics that will be screwed to a wall or panel. It is intended for OEM engineers and integrators housing 175 mm-class assemblies with tall parts or wiring.

The two-part housing is molded in black general purpose ABS with a light texture and carries a UL94 HB flame rating. Both halves have a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen (0.50 mm inlay depth on the drawing), and P.C. board standoffs are molded into both halves. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

The 100 mm tall member of the 175 x 125 mm footprint (the RL6555 is 70 mm tall), its 100 mm height matches the tallest sizes in the RL ordering table. The drawing gives inside dimensions of 165.22 mm [6.50 in] long, 115.22 mm [4.54 in] wide and 93.50 mm [3.68 in] high. Maximum P.C. board size is 164.46 x 109.35 mm. Across the flanges the overall length is 205.07 mm [8.07 in]. Shipping weight is 0.75 lbs (0.34 kg), packed in a bag.

Each purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 PCB screws and 4 lid screws. The box accepts M2.6 self-tapping screws for the board and M3 self-tapping screws for the lid, with a recommended torque of 43-50 ozf.in (30-35 cN.m). Replacement packs are SC617-50 (M3 x 25 mm lid screws, 50 pack) and SC519-50 (M2.6 x 6 mm PCB screws, 50 pack). The same size is offered as RL6585-F in light gray and RL6585BK without flanges.

Factory modification (milling, drilling, printing) is available, as are .stp and .x_t solid models. ABS can be damaged by some chemicals, including acetone, ketones, thread-locking compounds and cutting or tapping fluid, so use plastic-safe cleaners only.
