Hammond RL6555BK 175x125x70mm Black ABS Project Enclosure

The RL6555BK is a black ABS plastic project enclosure from the RL Series (shallow lid), measuring 175 x 125 x 70 mm (6.89 in x 4.92 in x 2.76 in). This plain-sided version, without mounting flanges, is designed for hand-held use or wall mount. It is intended for OEM engineers and integrators housing wider boards up to 166.03 x 109.35 mm.

The two-part housing is molded in black general purpose ABS with a light texture and carries a UL94 HB flame rating. Both halves have a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen (0.30 mm inlay depth on the drawing), and P.C. board standoffs are molded into both halves. The enclosure is designed to meet IP54 and is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.

With a 175 x 125 mm footprint and a 70 mm height, it takes boards up to 166.03 x 109.35 mm, a noticeably larger PCB area than the 150 mm sizes. The drawing gives inside dimensions of 166.79 mm [6.57 in] long, 116.79 mm [4.60 in] wide and 63.70 mm [2.51 in] high. Maximum P.C. board size is 166.03 x 109.35 mm. Shipping weight is 0.6 lbs (0.27 kg), packed in a bag.

Each purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 4 PCB screws and 4 lid screws. The box accepts M2.6 self-tapping screws for the board and M3 self-tapping screws for the lid, with a recommended torque of 43-50 ozf.in (30-35 cN.m). Replacement packs are SC617-50 (M3 x 25 mm lid screws, 50 pack) and SC519-50 (M2.6 x 6 mm PCB screws, 50 pack). The same size is offered as RL6555 in light gray and RL6555-FBK with flanges.

Factory modification (milling, drilling, printing) is available, as are .stp and .x_t solid models. ABS can be damaged by some chemicals, including acetone, ketones, thread-locking compounds and cutting or tapping fluid, so use plastic-safe cleaners only.
