Hammond RL6205BK 125x80x25mm Black ABS Project Enclosure, IP54

The RL6205BK is a low-profile 125 x 80 mm ABS plastic project enclosure from the RL Series of shallow-lid boxes, designed to house P.C. boards for hand-held use or wall mount. It suits OEM engineers, electronics builders and integrators who need a black housing for a small circuit board assembly. At a nominal 25 mm it is the lowest-profile enclosure in the RL series table, and the shortest of the three heights (25, 35 and 50 mm) built on the 125 mm x 80 mm footprint.

The enclosure is molded in black general purpose ABS plastic with a light texture and uses two-part construction. Both the box and the shallow lid carry a smooth recessed area for a membrane, label or silkscreen, and P.C. board standoffs are molded into both halves, with bosses that accept M2.6 self-tapping screws.

Nominal size is 4.92 in x 3.15 in x 0.98 in (125 mm x 80 mm x 25 mm) (the drawing shows an overall height of 25.70 mm [1.01 in]), with inside dimensions of 120.12 mm [4.73 in] long, 75.12 mm [2.96 in] wide and 19.90 mm [.78 in] high. It accepts a maximum P.C. board of 119.31 mm x 74.31 mm per the series ordering table (119.3 mm x 74.7 mm on the part page). This is the version without wall mounting flanges; the flanged equivalent is RL6205-FBK. Shipping weight is 0.2 lbs (0.09 kg).

The enclosure includes lid screws and PCB screws. The RL6205BK is designed to meet IP54, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. Some chemicals can damage or weaken the plastic, including acetone, ketones, thread-locking compounds, cutting or tapping fluid and strong solvents, so use only plastic-safe cleaners. The enclosure can also be factory modified (milling, drilling, printing), and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t. The light gray counterpart of this size is RL6205.
