Hammond PJHMI88L 8x8 Opaque Gray HMI Hinged Cover, Lockable Snap Latch

The PJHMI88L is a light gray opaque polycarbonate HMI hinged cover kit with a snap latch closure, part of the PJHMI Series. It mounts over an opening in an enclosure wall to protect instruments or electronics requiring routine attention or detail. The cover is light gray solid opaque polycarbonate, concealing the device behind it when closed. Its latch has a padlock feature to prevent unintentional opening.

The frame measures 7.93 in (201 mm) high by 8.15 in (207 mm) wide by 2.27 in (58 mm) deep (nominal size 8 in x 8 in x 2 in (203 mm x 203 mm x 51 mm)), and the viewing area is 6.47 in (164 mm) by 6.69 in (170 mm). Maximum panel cutout is 6.47 x 6.69 in, and it will fit Allied Moulded enclosure sizes 10x12 and larger. Shipping weight is 2 lbs (0.91 kg).

The box is injected polycarbonate and the cover is injected polycarbonate, hung on a 316 stainless steel hinge pin and sealed by a Formed-In-Place (FIP) polyurethane gasket in a continuous channel. The closure is a 316 stainless steel lockable snap latch; a replacement snap latch is available as part number PCJLLRSH. It is UV stabilized for outdoor use, with a service temperature of -31°F (-35°C) to 266°F (130°C).

To install, mark and drill the mounting holes at 7/32 or #2 (.220 dia), cut the opening, clean the surface and gasket, and mount with the supplied hardware torqued to 15 - 20 in-lbs using a Phillips screwdriver or similar tool. The hardware suits surfaces .059" to .250" thick. One hardware kit is included (8 fasteners needed), each kit with ten 10-32 x 1 pan head screws, ten stainless steel washer rivets and ten 10-32 nylon-insert nuts.

The PJHMI88L is a listed UL component (UL File E487574) for use with enclosures rated Types 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13, and is CSA listed Type 1, 3, 3R, 4, 4X, 12 or 13. It is RoHS and REACH compliant. Optional prop arm: PJHMIPROP88; the clear version of this kit is PJHMI88CCL.
