The PJ944 is the taller of the two PJI Type 4, 4X polyester inline enclosures, at 8.99 x 3.93 x 3.88 in (228 x 100 x 99 mm), and it comes with mounting feet. Designed as an instrument enclosure, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, electrical junction box or terminal wiring enclosure, it provides insulation and protection where equipment may be hosed down or become very wet.
Box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester, gray, with enhanced UV inhibitors for outdoor weathering, and are easily punched, cut or drilled. The PJ944 drawing shows four #10-32 brass inserts with stainless steel cover screws sealing on a closed cell neoprene gasket.
Four stainless steel mounting feet are fitted, and the drawing shows 9.98 in (253.49 mm) overall over the feet. The series also permits mounting through rear holes using a #8 x 1 inch screw (not included). A feetless version is available as PJ944FS.
An optional PJP94 aluminum panel, 6.25 x 3.13 in, mounts on four #10-32 brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws; the drawing lists 0.100 in aluminum and 0.125 in fiberglass back panel thicknesses. The PJ944 is UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) listed for Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, operates from 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index. It ships at 6 lbs (2.72 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
