The PJ744FS is the without-feet version of the 6.74 x 3.93 x 3.88 in (171 x 100 x 99 mm) enclosure in the PJI Type 4, 4X polyester inline series. Leaving off the feet suits installations that mount the box through its rear holes, which the series specifies for a #8 x 1 inch screw (not included). Applications listed for the series include instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures.
The enclosure and matching cover are molded fiberglass polyester with a gray finish and enhanced UV inhibitors against outdoor weathering. The material is easily punched, cut or drilled for glands and fittings. The cover is fastened with captive stainless steel screws in threaded brass inserts, and a captive oil-resistant gasket provides a positive seal, giving the outstanding insulation and protection the series describes for equipment that may be hosed down or become very wet.
Threaded brass inserts are provided for an optional inner panel; the matching aluminum panel is PJP74, 4 x 3.13 in, in a natural finish.
The PJ744FS carries UL 508A Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and cUL listings per CSA 22.2 No. 94, and complies with IEC 60529 IP66. It is rated for operating temperatures between 130°C and -40°C (266°F to -40°F) with an impact index of 6.78 J (5 ft/lb), making it suitable for high-temperature or highly corrosive environments.
