Hammond PJ864L 8x6x4 In Snap-Latch Hinged Type 4X Fiberglass Box

The PJ864L is an 8.00 x 6.12 x 4.13 in (203 x 155 x 105 mm) Type 4X polyester junction box with a continuous hinge door and snap latch; the part page lists a nominal 8 x 6 x 4 in (203 x 152 x 102 mm). It is suited to instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures in hose-down, very wet, high-temperature or highly corrosive locations.

For this size the drawing specifies 316 stainless steel hardware: a 316 stainless steel hinge, a 316 stainless steel lockable snap latch located on center, and 316 stainless mounting feet and feet screws. The series describes the draw type snap latch as including a provision for padlocking. Sealing is by a formed-in-place (FIP) polyurethane gasket, and the wall thickness is 0.14 in (3.55 mm).

Box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester in gray, with enhanced UV inhibitors, and are easily punched, cut or drilled. Four 10-32 threaded brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws take the optional 14R0705 inner panel, 6.75 x 4.88 in (171 x 124 mm), or a terminal kit; back panels are shown in 0.100 in aluminum, 0.075 in white steel and galvannealed, and 0.125 in fiberglass.

The four feet give 9.82 in (249.53 mm) overall with 0.34 in (8.74 mm) holes. The PJ864L is UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, operates from 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index. It ships at 4 lbs (1.81 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
