PJ18168H is the hinged-cover model of the 18.40 x 16.40 x 8.13 in (467 x 417 x 207 mm) PJ Type 4X polyester junction box. With the cover hung on a 316 stainless steel hinge and closed with screws, it suits instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures that need service access in wet, hose-down, hot or corrosive places.
The box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester, gray, with enhanced UV inhibitors, and can be punched, cut or drilled. The PJ18168H drawing shows two #10-32 brass inserts with 316 stainless steel captive cover screws and retaining O-rings, a formed-in-place (FIP) polyurethane gasket and a wall thickness of 0.14 in (3.57 mm).
Four #10-32 brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws take the optional P1868 inner panel, 16.88 x 14.88 in (429 x 378 mm). Back panel options on the drawing are 0.100 in aluminum, 0.075 in white steel and galvannealed, and 0.250 in fiberglass.
Mounting uses four 316 stainless steel feet on rear brass inserts with 316 stainless screws; the drawing gives 19.91 in (505.71 mm) over the feet and 0.34 in (8.74 mm) holes. The enclosure is UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with IEC 60529 IP66, runs from 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and has a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index. It ships at 16 lbs (7.26 kg) and is REACH and RoHS compliant.
