The PJ18168 is an 18.40 x 16.40 x 8.13 in (467 x 417 x 207 mm) lift-off screw-cover junction box in the PJ Type 4X polyester series. It is intended for instrument enclosures, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housings, electrical junction boxes and terminal wiring enclosures, and the series is specified for places where equipment is hosed down, very wet, hot or exposed to highly corrosive conditions.
Box and cover are compression molded fiberglass reinforced polyester in gray with enhanced UV inhibitors for outdoor weathering, and both are easily punched, cut or drilled. For this size the drawing specifies 316 stainless steel hardware: four #10-32 brass inserts with 316 stainless captive cover screws and retaining O-rings, and a formed-in-place (FIP) polyurethane gasket.
The optional inner panel for the PJ18168 is P1868, measuring 16.88 x 14.88 in (429 x 378 mm), fixed to four #10-32 brass inserts with plated carbon steel screws. Back panel thicknesses on the drawing are 0.100 in aluminum, 0.075 in white steel and galvannealed, and 0.250 in (6.35 mm) fiberglass.
Four 316 stainless steel feet bolt to rear brass inserts with 316 stainless screws, giving 19.91 in (505.71 mm) over the feet with 0.34 in (8.74 mm) holes. Listings are UL 508A and cUL (CSA 22.2 No. 94) Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, with IEC 60529 IP66 compliance, an operating range of 130°C to -40°C (266°F to -40°F) and a 6.78 J (5 ft/lb) impact index.
