The N1J864 is an 8 x 6 x 4 inch Type 1 steel enclosure with a quarter-turn door, sized in portrait orientation for small indoor control and instrument jobs. Electricians and OEM builders use this size to mount components on a 6.25 x 4.25 inch inner panel.
Construction is 16 gauge formed and spot welded steel. The formed steel cover is a full-swing door on butt hinges, held closed by a slotted quarter-turn latch, and the supplied inner panel is cut from 14 gauge steel. The enclosure and cover carry an ANSI 61 gray powder coat and the inner panel is finished in white powder coating. A bonding stud is provided on the door and a grounding stud on the box.
