Hammond EJ16146S16 16x14x6 In 316 Stainless Type 4X Junction Box

The Hammond EJ16146S16 is a 16 x 14 x 6 in (406 mm x 356 mm x 152 mm) Eclipse Junior junction box built from 16 gauge 316 stainless steel. It is a single-door, wall-mount Type 4X enclosure designed for use as an instrument enclosure, an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic control housing, an electrical junction box or a terminal wiring enclosure, and suits panel builders, electricians and OEM engineers who need protection where equipment may be hosed down, is otherwise very wet, or where corrosion may be a problem.

The body and cover are formed with smooth, continuously welded seams and no knockouts, cutouts or holes, and a formed lip on the enclosure helps exclude flowing liquids and contaminants. The continuously hinged cover uses stainless steel hinges and opens 180°, while the 316 stainless steel quarter-turn latches have a slot that requires a tool to open. A seamless poured-in-place gasket seals the door, and the cover and enclosure carry a natural, smooth brushed stainless finish.

Nominal size is 16 x 14 x 6 in, with a door opening of 15.25 x 13.25 in and 6.02 in of usable depth. A removable 14 gauge galvanized inner panel measuring 14.75 in (375 mm) H x 12.88 in (327 mm) W is included, unpainted, and mounts on tapped studs; the door offers 14.76 x 12.83 in of clear space for devices. Shipping weight is 23 lbs (10.43 kg).

Welded 14 gauge brackets with 0.31 in diameter holes, spaced 16.75 in vertically, handle wall mounting. A bonding stud is fitted on the door and a grounding stud on the enclosure (10-32 thread), with grounding and panel mounting hardware provided. The enclosure is listed to UL 508A and certified by CSA as Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13, complies with NEMA Type 3R, 4, 4X, 12 and 13 and IEC 60529 IP66, and is REACH and RoHS compliant. For high temperature applications a gasket retainer may be required; refer to the factory.
