Hammond DTS3281A460N4SS 7,500 BTU/H 460V Stainless NEMA 4X Air Conditioner

The DTS3281A460N4SS is the larger 304 stainless steel model in this side-mount DTS range, listed at 7,500 BTU/H for enclosures carrying heavier heat loads than the 4,000 BTU/H units can handle. It suits OEM machine builders, electrical contractors and plant maintenance teams who must cool a sealed cabinet outdoors or in corrosive areas without letting contaminated ambient air inside.

Closed-loop operation recirculates clean enclosure air without mixing it with contaminated ambient air, and the layout maximises the distance between the warm inlet and cold outlet to reduce hot spots. The unit uses R134a refrigerant (700 g charge), an expansion valve that prevents evaporator freeze-up while minimising inrush current, high-capacity fans for continuous air circulation and a built-in condensate evaporator. The exterior case is stainless steel with a 304 stainless steel #4 brush finish.

For panels fed at 460 V, the DTS3281A460N4SS is rated 460 V 50/60 Hz and runs within 360-506 V. It draws only 2.6 A running (16 A starting) and consumes 1400 W; power connects at a terminal block. Rated cooling capacity is 6825 BTU/h (2000 Watts) at +95/+95F (+35/+35 C), with unrestricted internal circulation of 450 CFM and external circulation of 450 CFM, and a noise level of <73 dB(A). Unit weight is 132 lbs (60 kg).

Mounting is on the side of the enclosure. A gasket, mounting kit and template for the enclosure cutout and drilling are included, along with a condensate drain hose and clamp. The thermostat is adjustable from +77 to +113°F (+25 to +45°C), factory set at +95°F/+35°C, and is accessible from inside the enclosure. Self-diagnostics run on startup, faults are shown by an LED, and a door contact provision powers the unit down when the enclosure door is opened. The series is listed UL, cUL and CE and complies with IP56 and NEMA 3R, 4, 4X; the part is REACH and RoHS compliant.
