The CSB100 is an empty NEMA/CSA Type 1 mild steel splitter box, 15 in high by 10 in wide by 4 in deep (381 x 254 x 102 mm), supplied without splitter blocks. It is the "less blocks" version of the 125/120 A (CU/AL) size in the CSB series, whose ordering table references splitter block CSBL125B for this enclosure. It suits electricians and panel builders who want the enclosure alone for an indoor distribution tap.
The CSB series is designed for indoor distribution of up to 600 A (max) service at 600 V max, using either 3 or 4 wires, with 75 °C conductor ampacity permitted. The same enclosure is offered as CSB103 with 3-wire splitter blocks and CSB104 with 4-wire splitter blocks.
The box is formed and spot welded from steel (the series uses 14 or 16 gauge; the 14 gauge note in the ordering table applies to the 600 A sizes). A hinged door is secured with a screw and provides a padlocking hasp, and a series of knockouts is provided on each side. The manufacturer drawing shows a 15.25 in x 10.25 in door, a 14.89 in x 9.75 in door opening, an overall depth of 4.06 in and back mounting holes spaced 12.00 in x 7.00 in. The enclosure and door are finished in ANSI 61 gray powder coating.
