- Circa 1980 design, no longer in production
The AT-1500 is a Hammond antenna transmatch (antenna tuner) from around 1980 and is listed by the manufacturer as no longer in production. It is of interest to amateur radio operators, restorers and collectors of classic Hammond station equipment looking for information on, or a match for, this unit.
Frequency coverage is 1 to 30 MHz continuously, using a variable roller inductor. The input impedance is 50 to 75 ohms unbalanced. On the output side it can match 15 to 500 ohms unbalanced (coaxial) feed, up to 500 ohms balanced feed through its included high power ferrite balun, or 10 to 1,000 ohms single ended feed. Power handling is 1,500 watts P.E.P. continuous.
Tuning uses vernier drives for smooth and accurate settings on all frequencies, with a 0 - 100 dial skirt log so settings are easy to reset. The finish follows a colour scheme similar to the Rockwell Collins KWM-380 (released in fall 1979) and was matched to the Hammond HL-2000A linear amplifier: the outer steel cabinet is painted in textured baked enamel in Hammond "Earth" Brown, and the front panel in smooth baked enamel in Hammond "Cream" Beige.
Overall dimensions of the AT-1500 are 6.00 in (152 mm) high, 10.00 in (254 mm) wide and 12.00 in (305 mm) deep, and the unit weighs 5 lbs (2.3 kg).
Ideal For
- HF amateur radio antenna matching from 1 to 30 MHz
- Matching coax, balanced or single ended antenna feeds
- Companion tuner for the HL-2000A linear amplifier
- Classic Hammond station restoration and collecting
