Hammond 384X 1,200V C.T. 329 VA Plate & Filament Transformer

The 384X is a 329 VA high voltage (plate) and filament power transformer from the 300 Series, aimed at builders who need a 1,200V C.T. plate supply together with three separate filament windings on one universal-primary, 50/60 Hz transformer. Its high voltage secondary is rated 1,200V C.T. at 230 mA, the highest secondary voltage in the 300 Series table, and it is a vertical ("X") mount unit with dimension reference X15.

The primary is universal: 100, 110, 120, 200, 220, 230 or 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. The manufacturer notes that units are designed to operate with BOTH primary windings engaged, so follow the primary wiring information for the series when connecting it. A 50 VAC bias tap is taken from the high voltage secondary centre tap (C.T. grounded).

Filament windings are 5V @ 3A, 6.3V @ 3A and a second 6.3V @ 3A. The unit can be run full wave bridge or full wave C.T.

Construction follows the 300 Series design: a Faraday copper primary shield reduces capacitive coupling from the primary, attenuating higher frequency current coupling to the secondaries (the shield is internally grounded to the end bell), and the windings are concentric wound for low stray field and low noise. The finish is black powder paint to match the 1650 series of output transformers. Units are highpot tested at 2,000 VAC and the series is CSA certified (209651). The 384X is RoHS and REACH compliant and has a shipping weight of 12.5 lbs (5.67 kg).
