Hammond 266PA6 37.8VA 6.3V CT Filament Transformer, 12A Parallel

The 266PA6 is a 37.8VA low voltage/filament power transformer rated 6.3V @ 6A with a center tap, or 3.15V @ 12A with its secondaries in parallel. It has the 266 Series dual 117/234 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary and mounts to a chassis as an open style unit.

Its three-page assembly drawing adds detail: for 234V connect WHITE to BROWN and apply 234VAC between BLACK and ORANGE; for 117V connect BLACK to BROWN and ORANGE to WHITE and apply 117VAC between BLACK and ORANGE. Test acceptance values include 72mA maximum excitation current at 117V, 60Hz, 3.408V ±2% no-load on each secondary, and a 2000V, 60Hz, 1 second primary-to-secondary hipot. The label marks it Made in Canada.

Each unit has a dual 117/234 VAC, 50/60 Hz primary (wired in parallel for 117V, in series for 234V) and dual secondaries that can be used as a center tapped secondary, connected in parallel, or used individually. The 266PA6 is designed for use with all windings engaged. Primary leads are Blk, Wht, Brn and Orn; secondary leads are Red, Blu, Gry and Yel, all at least 6" long.

It uses Mounting Style A with a 0.19 in (5 mm) mounting hole width. Listed dimensions are A 4.00 in (102 mm), B 2.25 in (57 mm), C 2.62 in (67 mm), D 3.56 in (90 mm). Unit weight is 1.04 lbs, with a shipping weight of 2.3 lbs (1.04 kg).

Construction uses a dual bobbin design, so no electrostatic shield is required, and Class B insulation (130 °C), while the unit is UL listed as a Class A (105 °C) design. It is hi-pot tested at 2,000V RMS, UL listed (# E207860) Type 3AH, CSA certified (209651), and RoHS and REACH compliant.
