Hammond 266J16 16VA 16V/8V Low Voltage Power Transformer

The 266J16 is a 16 VA power transformer rated 16 V at 1 A with the secondaries in series (center-tapped) or 8 V at 2 A in parallel. It suits chassis-built equipment that needs a 16 V or 8 V AC winding at up to 2 A.

The primary accepts 117 or 234 VAC at 50/60 Hz; the 266 Series connection diagrams show the primaries wired in parallel for 117 VAC and in series for 234 VAC. The secondaries can be used as a center tapped secondary (16V @ 1A), parallel connected (8V @ 2A) or used individually, and the unit is designed for use with all windings engaged. Every unit is hi-pot tested at 2,000V RMS.

Construction is open style with minimum 6" long leads and a dual bobbin design, so no electrostatic shield is required. Class B insulation (130 °C) is used for extra protection, and the design is UL listed as a Class A (105 °C) design.

It doubles the current of the 8 VA 266G16 at the same 16 V / 8 V outputs. The ordering table gives mounting style A, dimensions A 3.25 in (83 mm), B 1.90 in (48 mm), C 2.00 in (51 mm) and D 2.81 in (71 mm), a mounting hole width of 0.19 in (5 mm) and a weight of 1.2 lb (0.54 kg); shipping weight is 1.2 lbs (0.54 kg).

The series is UL listed (# E207860) Type 3AH and CSA certified (209651), and the 266J16 is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant (UPC 623980223964).
