Hammond 260A6 57VA 740V C.T. 117V Plate & Filament Transformer

The 260A6 is a 57 VA plate and filament transformer with a 740V centre-tapped high voltage secondary at 60 mA (listed in its short description as 370-0-370 at 60 mA) and a 6.3V C.T. filament winding at 2A. Unlike the rest of the 260 Series, it does not have a universal primary: it is a 117V, 50/60 Hz unit, suited to preamps, low power amps and general replacement work.

Construction is economical open frame, chassis mount, and the series is offered in two-hole channel bracket (figure #1) or four-hole (figure #2) styles. For the 260A6, the ordering table refers to its PDF drawing for the mounting detail. The ordering table lists dimensions A 2.5, B 2.155 and C 3 (units not stated in the table), with the remaining dimensions referred to the PDF drawing. Leads are a minimum of 5" long, and the shipping weight is 0.21 lbs (0.10 kg).

The 260A6 includes a Faraday shield between the primary and secondary windings. This electrostatic shield reduces capacitive coupling from the primary, greatly attenuating higher frequency current coupling to the secondaries. The shield lead, the gray wire marked SH, should remain grounded to the mounting bracket and in turn to the chassis.

The 260A6 primary is 117V, 50/60 Hz only; it is the one 260 Series exception to the universal 100/120/220/240 VAC primary. The 260A6 is listed as REACH compliant and RoHS compliant.
