Hammond 260E 80VA 450V C.T. Universal Primary Plate Transformer

The 260E is an 80 VA plate and filament transformer delivering a 450V centre-tapped high voltage secondary at 115 mA, a 5V filament winding at 2A and a 6.3V C.T. filament winding at 3A. It is built for low power tube amplifiers, preamps, test equipment and general replacement use where a universal primary for 100, 120, 220 or 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz is needed.

Construction is economical open frame, chassis mount, and the series is offered in two-hole channel bracket (figure #1) or four-hole (figure #2) styles. For the 260E, the ordering table refers to its PDF drawing for the mounting detail; the listed mounting slot is 0.21 x 0.38 in (5 x 10 mm). Ordering-table dimensions are A 3.00 in (76 mm), B 3.06 in (78 mm), C 2.53 in (64 mm), D 2.50 in (64 mm) and E 2.40 in (61 mm). Leads are a minimum of 5" long, and the shipping weight is 3.4 lbs (1.54 kg).

The 260E includes a Faraday shield between the primary and secondary windings. This electrostatic shield reduces capacitive coupling from the primary, greatly attenuating higher frequency current coupling to the secondaries. The shield lead, the gray wire marked SH, should remain grounded to the mounting bracket and in turn to the chassis.

The universal primary has taps for 100, 120, 220 or 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz, and the units are designed to run with BOTH primary windings energized for maximum efficiency. The 260E is listed as REACH compliant and RoHS compliant.
