The 183G20 is a 10 VA low voltage power transformer designed to mount on a printed circuit board. Two 115 V primary windings allow 115 VAC or 230 VAC operation at 50/60 Hz, and two 10 V, 500 mA secondaries combine to 20 V C.T. at 0.5 A in series or 10 V at 1 A in parallel. The manufacturer's drawing gives toleranced dimensions and electrical acceptance limits for qualification.
Construction uses a low profile, split bobbin with a top shroud. The dual secondary windings are non-concentrically wound, giving low primary-to-secondary coupling so no electrostatic shield is required, and the transformer is hipot rated at 4,000 V RMS with Class F (155 °C) insulation.
The 183G20 drawing specifies L 1.875" ±0.063, W 1.563" ±0.063 and H 1.375" ±0.063, with 0.036" SQ. ±0.005 square pins and a #4 mounting screw (two-hole mounting; screws not provided); the series table lists the 10 VA size nominally as 1.88 x 1.56 x 1.38 in.
For 115 V operation the two primaries (pins 1-3 and 4-6) are connected in parallel; for 230 V they are connected in series. Joining secondary pin 9 to pin 10 places the windings in series, and that connection acts as the center tap. Test limits on the drawing include 56.4mA maximum excitation current at 115 V, 60 Hz and a 4000 V, 60 Hz, 1 second primary-to-secondary hipot.
The 183 Series is cUL listed; 183G20 is RoHS and REACH compliant.
