Hammond 182S110 1000VA 220V CT Toroidal Chassis Mount Transformer

The 182S110 is a 1000 VA low-voltage toroidal power transformer for chassis mounting, from the 182 Series. Its dual secondary delivers 220V C.T. @ 4.5A when the windings are connected in series, or 110V @ 9.1A when they are connected in parallel, making it a fit for OEM engineers and equipment builders who need a 220V centre-tapped or 110V supply from a single core.

The primary is a dual 117/234 VAC winding for 50/60 Hz operation: wire the two primary halves in parallel for 117 VAC or in series for 234 VAC. The manufacturer's short description for this part reads "TOROID, 1000VA, 50HZ, 110/110V". The toroidal design is described as low profile, lightweight and cool running thanks to its high efficiency, and the units are designed to have all windings engaged. Flexible leads are a minimum of 8" long, and every unit is Hi-Pot tested at 4,000V RMS between primary and secondary.

Physically, the 182S110 measures 6.50 in (165 mm) in outside diameter and 3.50 in (89 mm) high, with a table weight of 16.49 lbs and a listed shipping weight of 16.5 lbs (7.48 kg). It uses center single-hole mounting through a potted center for extra mounting strength, and ships with one bottom rubber insulating pad and mounting hardware: a 3/8-16 center bolt 3.50 in (89 mm) long (bottom rubber washer only, no top steel washer).

The series is CSA certified to C22.2 #66 (CSA file #209651), UL recognized to UL506 (UL file #E207860) and CE certified to IEC950, and this part is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant. Because toroidal transformers can draw a high magnetizing inrush current when first energized, the manufacturer advises a slow-blow fuse, time-delayed circuit breaker or other soft-start circuitry on the supply line.
