Hammond 182D110 15VA Toroidal Transformer, Dual 110V Secondaries

The 182D110 is a 15 VA toroidal transformer in the 182 Series with dual secondaries that can be connected in series for 220 V center-tapped at 68 mA, or in parallel for 110 V at 136 mA. Its dual 117/234 VAC primary operates on 50 or 60 Hz, so one part can serve equipment built for either mains voltage.

This part is marked REPLACE WITH 1182D110. The 182 Series is being discontinued as a stocked line and is available while quantities last, with the 1182 Series as its replacement.

Physically, the 182D110 is a 2.70 in (69 mm) diameter toroid, 1.25 in (32 mm) high, with an open centre. It is secured by one centre bolt: 8-32 thread, 1.50 in (38 mm) long, with a top steel washer and top and bottom rubber washers. Units of 160 VA and under ship with two rubber insulating pads, a metal centering washer and all mounting hardware. The series table lists 0.76 lbs; shipping weight is 0.8 lbs (0.36 kg).

Flexible leads are at least 8 in long, and the manufacturer notes that units are designed to have all windings engaged. Primary to secondary Hi-Pot testing is 4,000 V RMS. Approvals are CSA C22.2 #66 (file 209651), UL recognized to UL506 (file E207860) and CE to IEC950; the part is RoHS and REACH compliant. Because toroids can draw a large inrush current at switch-on, use a slow-blow fuse, time-delay breaker or soft start on the supply.
