Hammond 175A-NA 100VA Plug-In Step-Down Autotransformer, 230 to 115VAC

The 175A-NA is a 100VA plug-in step-down autotransformer that converts a 230VAC, 50/60 Hz supply to 115VAC. It is aimed at users running 115VAC North American equipment from 230VAC outlets in worldwide applications, where the equipment is already isolated and only a voltage change is required.

Because it uses a single winding, this autotransformer does not provide isolation, and it does not convert line frequency. The input is circuit breaker protected, and the unit is hi-pot tested to 2 KV RMS.

As the "-NA" version, the input connects through a 5 foot cord with a grounded North American 250V, 3-wire plug (NEMA 6-15P), which can also be used with adaptors for proper grounding. The output is a one foot "pig tail" cord with a standard North American 115V, 3-wire grounded receptacle (NEMA 5-15R). Receptacles have North American pins; the 298G adaptor series offers international pinout adaptor plugs.
