The 170G is a 1500VA hard wired autotransformer for panel builders, electricians and OEM engineers who need to change line voltage between 115VAC and 230VAC. It works in either direction: step down from 230VAC to 115VAC, or step up from 115VAC to 230VAC, at 50 or 60 Hz, which makes it suited to flexible worldwide applications.
Because it uses a single winding, the 170G does not provide isolation. It is intended for use where the equipment is already isolated and only a voltage change is required. It also does not convert line frequency, so equipment that depends on 50 Hz or 60 Hz must still match the local supply.
