The 170 is a 50VA hard wired autotransformer from the 170 Series that works either as a step down (230VAC to 115 VAC) or step up (115VAC to 230VAC) transformer. It is the smallest model in the 170 Series at 50VA, and is intended for flexible world wide applications where equipment needs to run on a different line voltage.
It is a single-winding design, so it does not provide isolation; use it where equipment is already isolated and only a voltage change is required. It operates at 50 or 60 Hz. These units do NOT convert line frequency, so equipment must still be suited to the local supply frequency.
Connection is by flexible leads, 8" minimum length. Overall dimensions for the 170 are A 2.19 in (56 mm), B 2.63 in (67 mm), C 2.63 in (67 mm), D 1.75 in (44 mm) and E 1.56 in (40 mm), and it weighs 2 lbs (shipping weight 2 lbs (0.91 kg)). Choose the model by the 50VA capacity against the connected load.
The series CSA certification (209651) covers models 170A, 170B, 170C and 170D, not the 170. It is listed as RoHS and REACH compliant.
