Hammond 1628SEA 30W Single-Ended Tube Output Transformer, 5000 Ohm

The 1628SEA is a 30 watt single ended tube output transformer with a 5000 ohm primary and a 120 mA DC bias rating. It suits hi-fi designers using higher impedance triodes such as the 211, 300B, 572B and 811A, or pentodes including the 6AQ5, 6V6, 6L6, 807, 5881, 6550 and EL84.

The 1627-1642 Series is "over designed" for high fidelity, single ended, Class-A tube output circuits. Each transformer is enclosed (shielded) and uses high quality (M6) grain oriented silicon steel laminations, with a gapped core to reduce core saturation in Class-A amplifier circuits. Insulated flexible leads are 8" minimum, and the case uses four slot, chassis Type "X" mounting with 0.20 x 0.38 in (5 x 10 mm) slots.

Secondary taps are 4, 8 and 16 ohms and a 40% screen tap is included for Ultra-Linear use. The listed primary inductance is 48 Henrys. The drawing gives typical values of 171 ohms primary DCR, 16.2 Hy primary inductance and 100 kOhms primary impedance at 1 kHz, with secondary DCR of 413, 514 and 720 mOhm. The series rates response at least 20 Hz to 20 kHz at full power (+/- 1 dB max.), while the part drawing states +/- 1.5 dB max. Hipot test is 2000 VRMS; temperature range -40 to 105C.
