Hammond 1597DIN9GY 9 Module 158 mm Wide DIN Rail Enclosure, Gray

The 1597DIN9GY is the widest standard module in its DIN rail enclosure line: a 9 module housing measuring 3.54 in x 6.22 in x 2.28 in (90 mm x 158 mm x 58 mm). It is intended for electronics designers and panel builders who need room for a larger board or several devices on standard symmetrical 35 mm DIN rail, in the industrial drives and controls, automation, HVAC and IoT applications the series targets.

The enclosure is sold complete with base and cover. According to the drawing the cover is polycarbonate and the base is PPE+PS; the series describes a light gray polycarbonate body on a dark gray PPE and PS mounting base. Materials are rated UL94 V-0, the design meets IP20, and snap closures mean assembly needs no hardware. The drawing gives a recommended PCB screw torque of 2.5 lbf-in (30 cN-m) and lists the 1553WTS100 #2 x 3/16 in plated self-tapping screw, sold in packs of 100.

The 1597DIN9GY offers 6 cover spaces. It takes 1597DINCOV11GY closed, 1597DINCOV12GY oval, 1597DINCOV13GY vented and 1597DINCOV14GY knockout covers, each sold individually so you can combine types, for example vented positions over heat-producing parts and knockout positions for cable entry.

The manufacturer notes that some chemicals, including acetone, ketones, ethers, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, thread locking compounds, cutting fluid and strong solvents, can damage its plastic enclosures, so use only plastic-safe cleaners.
