Hammond 1596B101 25x20x15 mm Black ABS Potting Box, No Lid

The 1596B101 is a single black plastic potting box, one of the smaller rectangular sizes in the 1596 range at 25 x 20 mm. It is a one piece molded cup with no lid, designed for potting box applications: place a tiny sensor board, small coil or a few discrete components inside, fill with potting compound and the box becomes the finished outer shell. It suits electronics designers, prototype builders and technicians who need a clean, uniform housing for encapsulated parts.

The box is molded from black general purpose ABS plastic with a flame rating of UL94-HB and a smooth black finish. It is temperature rated from -20º to +94º C (-4º to 201.2º F), which is worth checking against the cure temperature of your potting compound. Wall thickness is 1.0 mm (0.04 in) per the series specification, matching the 1.00 mm shown on the drawing.

Some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS, so avoid acetone, ketones, ethers, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, thread locking compounds, cutting or tapping fluid and strong solvents, and confirm any grease or oil is plastic safe.
