Hammond 1594BGY 81x56x40mm Gray Flame Retardant ABS Enclosure

The 1594BGY is the light gray flame retardant version of the Hammond 1594B heavy duty ABS enclosure, a rugged electronic instrument box ideally suited for mounting printed circuit boards. With a nominal size of 3.2 in x 2.2 in x 1.57 in (81 mm x 56 mm x 40 mm), it gives OEM engineers, electronics designers and control builders a compact, thick-walled housing for small assemblies.

The box and lid are molded in flame retardant ABS plastic that carries a UL flammability rating of 94V-0 (listed as UL94 V-0), with a matte textured finish in light gray (RAL 7018 on the drawing). The series is a heavy duty thick-wall design with an average wall thickness of 0.13 in (3.3 mm); the part drawing shows an average wall thickness of 3.10 mm [.122 in].

The lid is secured with four M3 x 0.5 - 0.71 in (18 mm) long Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings. Replacement machine screws are sold in packs of 100 as 1594MS100. The drawing shows a narrowest inside dimension of 46.67 mm [1.838 in] and an inner box height of 34.30 mm [1.350 in], which helps when sizing a board.

As supplied the 1594BGY is rated IP54, and it can be upgraded to IP66 with the 1594BGASKET silicone gasket and machine screws with o-rings (1594WMS100). It is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped at 0.16 lbs (0.07 kg), and can be factory modified by milling, drilling or printing. Solid models are available in STEP or IGES.

Note that some chemicals can damage or weaken ABS, including acetone, ketones, ethers, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, thread locking compounds, cutting or tapping fluid and strong solvents; use only plastic-safe cleaners.
