Hammond 1591HBK Black Flame Retardant ABS Box, 166x71x29 mm

The 1591HBK is a black, flame retardant ABS plastic project box from the 1591 Series of multipurpose enclosures with card guides. It measures 6.52 x 2.79 x 1.14 in (166 x 71 x 29 mm) and is built for electronics designers, OEM engineers and technicians who need a compact housing that holds printed circuit boards upright.

Card guides are molded into all side walls and accept 1.5 mm (0.062") thick boards, making the box ideally suited to vertical PCB mounting. Inside, the drawing shows 159.70 mm [6.287 in] of length, 64.80 mm [2.551 in] of width and 25.00 mm [.984 in] of height, with guides 20.00 mm [.788 in] tall. If you would rather lay a board flat, the optional 1591Z card adaptors allow horizontal mounting.

The body is molded from easy-to-machine flame retardant ABS rated UL94 V-0. Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is rated IP54. The lid fastens with M3 - 0.5 x 10 mm machine screws that thread into pre-installed brass inserts, a good choice when the unit will be opened and closed repeatedly. Black enclosures ship with black screws.

Each 1591HBK assembly includes the box, lid, 6 cover screws and brass inserts; recommended screw torque is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). The part is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships in shrink wrap at 0.22 lbs (0.10 kg), and can be paired with the 1591HC clear polycarbonate lid. Factory modification such as milling, drilling and printing is available, and solid models are offered in .stp or .x_t.
