Hammond 1591ETBU Ice Blue 190mm Polycarbonate Card-Guide Enclosure

The 1591ETBU is the largest ice blue enclosure in the 1591T general purpose series, a translucent polycarbonate project box built for mounting printed circuit boards where LEDs, readouts or displays must be seen through the housing. The ice blue tint is almost totally transparent to blue, white and near-white LEDs, readouts and displays, making it a practical choice for OEM engineers and integrators mounting boards that carry such indicators.

The box and lid are molded from flame retardant translucent polycarbonate that is easy to machine. A lap joint between box and lid protects against access of dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54. The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings; the purchased assembly includes the box, lid, 6 cover screws and pre-installed brass inserts, with a recommended torque of 42-57 ozf.in (30-40 cN.m).

The ordering table lists this size at 7.48 in (190 mm) long, 4.37 in (111 mm) wide and 2.40 in (61 mm) deep. The drawing gives overall dimensions of 190.40 x 110.60 x 60.80 mm and an inside cavity of 183.52 x 103.53 x 56.60 mm. Integral card guides accept 1.5 mm (0.062") PC cards, with a guide height of 51.60 mm and a slot width of 2.06 mm.

The 1591ETBU is RoHS and REACH compliant, ships shrink wrapped and has a shipping weight of 0.53 lbs (0.24 kg). Factory modification such as milling, drilling and printing can be quoted, and solid models are available in .stp or .x_t. Some chemicals can damage polycarbonate, so review the chemical resistance guidance before using solvents, thread lockers or cutting fluids.
