Hammond 1591ABK 100x50x25mm Black ABS Enclosure with Card Guides

The 1591ABK is the black, flame retardant standard version of the 1591A size in the 1591 series of ABS multipurpose enclosures. It is a compact project box for electronics designers and OEM builders who want to slide a printed circuit board vertically into molded card guides.

The box is 100 mm long, 50 mm wide and 25 mm deep (3.94 x 1.97 x 0.98 in), with drawing inside dimensions of about 93.83 x 43.83 x 20.90 mm. Card guides are molded into all side walls and accept 1.5 mm (0.062") boards. If horizontal mounting suits the layout better, the 1591Z card adaptors (packs of 6, 50 or 100) let the board sit flat.

As a standard version, it is molded from easy-to-machine flame retardant ABS carrying a UL94 V-0 rating. The lid is secured with M3 x 10 mm Phillips machine screws threaded into integral brass bushings, which the series notes is well suited to repeated assembly and disassembly; black enclosures come with black screws. The recommended torque on the drawing is 35.5-42.5 ozf.in (25-30 cN.m). Lap joint construction protects against dust and splashing water, and the enclosure is designed to meet IP54.

Within the 1591A size, the general purpose (non flame retardant) black equivalent is 1591ASBK, and the grey flame retardant version is 1591AGY. The 1591AC clear polycarbonate lid fits this enclosure. The part is RoHS and REACH compliant and weighs 0.11 lbs (0.05 kg).
