Hammond 1590Z090BK Black 140x140x90mm IP68 Diecast Aluminum Enclosure

The 1590Z090BK is a large square diecast aluminum enclosure, 140 x 140 x 90 mm, from the 1590Z Series of thick-wall, water-tight housings. With a 30 mm deep lid and an internal mounting shelf, it gives electronics integrators and OEM designers room for terminal blocks, power supplies or control boards that need protection from water, dust and impact.

Box and lid are cast from aluminum alloy, with a 4.52 mm average wall. Two piece tongue and groove construction holds a replaceable one piece silicone rubber gasket rated -40C to +150C (-40F to 302F), which ships loose inside the enclosure. Four recessed stainless steel machine screws secure the lid into tapped M6 holes; the screws are self-captivating and create their threads on first installation. Recommended cover screw torque is 17.7-18.6 lbf.in (200-210 cN.m).

Inside dimensions per the drawing are approximately 129.08 mm long, 129.37 mm wide and 82.00 mm deep. The mounting shelf accepts M6 machine ground screws, and the optional 16 gauge galvanized steel inner panel 1590Z090PL is available separately. The purchased assembly includes the box, lid, silicone gasket, 4 cover screws and 4 ground screws with washers.

This version is powder painted inside and out in a tough textured black finish, identified by Hammond as “PAINTED BLACK TEXTURE”. Blind through holes, located outside the gasket protection, allow wall mounting without breaching the seal.

It carries an IP68 rating, is cUL and UL listed (file E65324) and has been independently tested to IP66, IP67, IP68 and NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 and 13, with an IK08 impact rating per IEC62262. RoHS and REACH compliant.
