Hammond 1590WXBK 145x121x56 mm Black Watertight Diecast Enclosure

The 1590WXBK is a rectangular watertight diecast aluminum enclosure listed at 5.72 x 4.77 x 2.22 in (145 x 121 x 56 mm), with no mounting flanges. It gives electronics designers, OEMs and instrument builders a larger board footprint than the square sizes in an enclosure designed to meet IP65.

Box and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine for connectors and cut-outs. A lap joint where lid and box meet protects against dust and splashing water, and a silicone gasket is included loose inside the enclosure for fitting to the lid. Low side wall draft angles of 2° or less make mounting PC boards easier. This black version is coated with a textured polyester powder paint that gives a lasting finish, even after machining, and black screws are included to enhance appearance.

The body measures 145.20 x 121.20 mm [5.717 x 4.772 in] with an overall height of 56.40 mm [2.220 in]. Inside you get 138.09 x 114.09 mm [5.437 x 4.492 in] and 52.40 mm [2.063 in] of height. The manufacturer lists maximum PC board dimensions of 113.09 mm (length) and 137.09 mm (width).

The lid fastens with four 6-32 UNC screws threaded into factory-tapped holes; recommended torque is 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket. The assembly ships shrink wrapped with box, lid and four screws, and is RoHS and REACH compliant. A flanged-lid version (1590WXFLBK) is also offered, and 1590XGASKET is the optional replacement gasket kit.
