Hammond 1590WEFBK 188x120x82mm Black Watertight Box, Flanged Base

The 1590WEFBK is the water-tight 1590E diecast aluminum enclosure with a spot-welded bottom flange, noted on the drawing as welded, that lets the box be fixed to a wall or panel. Nominal size is 7.4 in x 4.72 in x 3.23 in (188 mm x 120 mm x 82 mm), and it suits OEM engineers, electricians and integrators who need a wall-mounted instrument box that resists dust and splashing water.

Box and lid are die-cast aluminum alloy, tough yet easy to machine, joined with a lap joint. This water-tight version is designed to meet IP65 and includes a silicone gasket supplied loose inside the enclosure, not pre-installed, so machining or painting can be done before the gasket goes on. The textured black finish is a tough polyester powder paint that gives a lasting finish even after machining, and black screws are included to match.

On the drawing the overall length across the flange is 216.64 mm [8.529 in], and the height including the flanged bottom plate is 83.50 mm [3.287 in]. The inside box measures 177.67 mm [6.995 in] long, 109.67 mm [4.318 in] wide and 77.00 mm [3.031 in] high. Maximum P.C. board dimensions are listed as 107.67 mm and 175.67 mm, and the side wall draft angle of 2° or less eases board mounting.

Six cover screws come threaded into factory-tapped 6-32 UNC holes; torque them to 25-30 cN.m [36-43 ozf.in] with the gasket, or 50-55 cN.m [71-78 ozf.in] without. Liquid resistant 6-32 x 1/2" stainless steel screws with O-ring (1590WMS100BK) and the 1590EGASKET replacement kit are available. The 1590WEFBK is RoHS and REACH compliant and ships shrink wrapped at 1.53 lbs (0.69 kg).
